Background of the TC
The training course „Strengthening youth initiatives of young Roma and non-Roma for respect and European citizenship” aims to strengthen the youth initiatives, the active citizenship and the cooperation for innovations and good practices in the youth work by creating space for Roma and non-Roma youth organizations from 9 European countries to learn, share, transfer, disseminate and advocate successful practices that target strengthening the conceptual understanding for Roma inclusion, intercultural dialogue, youth empowerment and mobilization, and to establish a support systems to develop new youth initiatives and projects within the Youth in Action Programme and others.
The TC was designed on the ternYpe strategy and its goals
- „Build a strong independent youth network capable to address the needs of the members, partners and Roma youth from all levels” with the specific objectives to build the capacity of the members and to create a platform of exchange of experience.
- „Strengthening the members to build up groups and networks promoting active citizenship” with the objective to develop programs and strategies on national level to coach grassroots groups and to build youth networks on regional and national level.
Objectives
The project/network pursues the following concrete objectives:
- Give space to active young Roma and non-Roma from different European countries to meet, to share experiences and to create common visions for their engagement and European citizenship;
- Strengthen the identity, self-awareness and self-esteem of the participants to raise their own voice and to join efforts for their common cause;
- Train and enhance the capacity, creativity and initiative of active and potential young Roma, and to” develop human resources in Roma organizations and networks working for active citizenship, an inclusive” knowledge-based society (Europe 2020) and non-discriminatory enjoyment of citizens rights and” responsibilities for all European citizens (Racial Equality Directive);”
- to build platforms for exchange, dissemination and exploitation of successful practices on regional,” national and international level that contribute to the achievement of the EU National Roma Integration” Strategies;”
- to raise the awareness for role models in education especially on grassroots level in Roma” communities through public actions, media and joint actions for local Roam youth networks and groups and” etc…”

Main theme of the training course is European citizenship and Mutual respect;
Methodology
- Learning by sharing;
- Working groups and plenum on interesting themes for youth initiatives such as free time, sport, culture, art, healthy lifestyle, advocacy, community problems, intercultural dialogue etc.

Profile of participants
The training will include 33 youth participants, youth leaders, workers and participants in the international initiative „Dik I Na Bister”, 2013 and the study session in Budapest, September, 2013 for planning a European Roma Youth Campaign for change, recognition and remembrance. Participants should be motivated to engage with youth activities and initiatives on local level and to follow up the ongoing ternYpe activities on European level;

- Hungary- 3 participants and 1 trainer/facilitator
- Bulgaria- 4 participants and 2 experts/trainers/support stuff;

Official language of the training sessions and discussions is English.
Logistical information:
YND will cover cost of participants:
- – Provide full board accommodation for the period of the TC in Bulgaria /3 meals per day& coffee breaks, seminar materials/;
- – organize the transfer and local transport for them; cover 70 % of the travel cost per participant;
Participants have to buy their tickets and YND will reimburse 70 % of the travel cost.
Arrival at: Sofia bus station, Central train station and Sofia Airport.
More logistical information will be provided to the selected participants.

Selection procedure
The preparatory team of this activity will select 28 participants and 5 youth support stuff – workers/facilitators, trainers. According to the profile specified above, but also ensuring gender balance (as far as possible) in the overall group composition.
