OPIS PROJEKTU:

Czas trwania: 1.08.2013 – 31.08.2013

The whole project is based on non-formal education and the volunteers is going to organize activities with the aim of the promotion of the European values and intercultural understanding. The HO will take care that the volunteers will work and live in a safe surrounding and it will support the volunteers in their learning process during the whole EVS project. Volunteers will be also involved in raising awareness of active citizenship and civil society. Apart from learning to live and work in a new environment, the volunteers will gain knowledge on how to work in group – together.

Plan of all month project (August)

1-3 Arrival of volunteers, registration at the local authorities, on-arrival training course organized by OIP; getting to know each other, teambuilding with mentors (Minsk City).

4 Arrival to the cultural heritage venue (Pryluki village, Minsk Region, The Chapskis Palace) Getting to know with the area. Safety rules are explained.

5 Official Opening Ceremony. The Local Authorities and Communities representatives will be invited.

6-9 ReconstructionWork (The volunteers will take care of the green areas around the castle like mowing the lawn, cleaning the surrounding castle moat and digging up the garden and clear it of weeds. The group will clean up the Palace site and bring it to a proper appearance. The volunteers will also do small renovation works around the Chapskis Palace, like repairing old doors or varnishing wooden constructions). Totally: 25 hours per week.

Intercultural Activities organized by the volunteers to the local community. Totally: 5 hours per week.

10-11 Days Off.

12-16 Reconstruction Work. Totally: 25 hours per week.

Learning to Learn Activities organized by the volunteers to their volunteers team. Totally: 5 hours per week.

Mid-Term Evaluation will be organized. Totally 5 hours.

17-18 Days Off.

19-23 Reconstruction Work. Totally: 30 hours per week.

Developing Entrepreneurial Skills by organizing an activity for the local community. Totally: 5 hours per week.

24-25 Days Off.

26-27 Reconstruction Work. Totally: 10 hours per week

Organizing activities for the local community on experience exchange. Totally 2 hours per week.

28 Official Closing Ceremony

28-29 Days Off

30-31 Evaluation and Reflection Activities (work with mentors towards Youthpass, competences they developed during their short-term EVS). Activities on spreading information among youth and local authorities about their activities implemented; documenting the project results using the methods and tools the most suitable for them – photo, video, blogging, Facebook page, etc.

Volunteers 1-2

Volunteer 7

Volunteers 8-9

Volunteer 10

After the camp took place we will have a research work on the background of the campsite so to compose and publish a leaflet on the Estate.

The HO has found mentors for all of the volunteers. The mentors will take care of volunteers, their free time and learning process. The mentors and both organizations will inform each other about the realization of the project. they will also inform the volunteers about all circumstances and problems, which may occur during the project. the communication between SO, HO and volunteers.

The volunteers will work closely with the coordinator of HO. All staff of Office for Initiatives Promotion will be able to provide the needed assistance and support to the volunteers. Main responsibilities will never be given to the volunteers alone. The volunteers will be involved in decision-making processes, especially if it concerns areas that they will be involved in directly.

The volunteers will have the right to know about news on both sides. The local infrastructure creates many possibilities for self-initiative activities. If the volunteers are willing to develop their own

ideas, they can count on the support not only from the organization’smembers, but also representatives of the local community where the reconstruction work will be held.

The EVS-volunteers will receive their pocket money every month. They will manage money on

their own. Food will be served at a local canteen or the volunteers will be responsible for the meal on their own. In this case they will be provided with money for their food allowance as well.

They will be able to use the facilities they are going to have at the venue of reconstruction camp (shower, toilet, simple cooking facilities). They will be living in a room sharing it with 3 other people of the same gender. In any case accommodation will be organized by the HO and discussed with the volunteers and the SO. the mentor will help volunteer to manage everything concerning the public transportation and orientation especially in the days off since the volunteers will be able to leave for Minsk City and enjoy it while their free time. The HO will cover the cost of public transport.

As the volunteers take part in the everyday work of an NGO in cooperation with local communities for solving a problem of preserving cultural heritage object. They will gain not only the practical knowledge of wide aspects of NGO operations, but gain also intercultural experience and chance to develop as people. The volunteers will also be able to compare the situation to their own country and Belarus and possibly give suggestions for improvements. Having international volunteers brings an intercultural dimension and new qualities to the work of the HO, enticing us to develop new and creative ways of functioning. At the end of the voluntary service Youthpass will be issued to the volunteer. During last month of the service supervisor, mentor and volunteer will together work on creating youth pass. It will include reflections on volunteer learning process and personal development by mentor, supervisor and volunteer. In this way we will ensure quality of issued youth pass.

During the Service the volunteers will get the opportunities to acquire:

1.Interpersonal, social and civic competences.

Immerged into the new environment the volunteers will acquire social and interpersonal skills necessary for successful communication and survival with the help of new people. The volunteers will learn to work in a team, communicate with colleagues and maintain working and personal relations. Doing a service outside the EU, they might feel even stronger their belongings to the EU society, will be able to share their values and ideas, compare them to the values of Belarus and identify the ways to find something valuable for both countries and for Europe in general.

2.Cultural expression.

The volunteers will get an opportunity to organize several intercultural events for building the dialogue with the local communities that will surronded and that will be from the rural area. Working on promoting their culture and traditions volunteers will be able to to organize events devoted to their Mother culture in any form they prefer (music, arts, dance, etc.).

3.Entrepreneurship.

they will be more than welcome to show initiative and bring it to realization both on their own or with the help of staff member or a mentor. They will be parts of weekly meetings of the reconstruction team workers where the plans for the upcoming week and the results of the previous week are discussed. They will be responsible for workshops in the frames of the evening activities

aimed at developing several personal competences. In such a way, they will get the practical skills on project management, planning and reflection.

4.Communication in the mother tongue.

The volunteers will learn to maintain long-distance relations with family and friends. We encourage the volunteers to hold English Conversation Activities that is supposed to be held in the local community.

5.Communication in foreign languages.

The volunteers will learn to express themselves in English since the mentors are able to work in engklisg as well as the project coordinators. Moreover we encourage the volunteer to get known with belarusian culture and start learning several Belarusian phrazes so to get in touch with local youth.

6.Mathematics competencies and basic competencies in science and technology.

For the needs of everyday life the volunteers will have to learn to allocate the money properly, to acuire time management skills.

7.Learning to learn.

The volunteers will be able to express and evalute their own interests, skills and progress, cooperate with mentors and coordinators to ensure that htheir personal characteristics are addressed, that they can learnmost from what they are interested in and what they work with.

8.Digital competences

Work with computer is a mandatory part of the project. The volunteers will also be asked to write a blog or updates on the organization website about their service.
